Another literary gem from Front Elevation
I have had a look around a few of the advertisers in the magazine and noted 'there is still much to do' with regards to website updating and Case Studies.
It would seem from all of our lead generation research that as far as the construction market is concerned, that not only can we now ee the tunnel but we can also see the light at the end of it.
There is a huge amount of projects (literally billions of pounds) going through planning in London alone ad we are talking about 4 - 5 years of work coming out of the ground by thhhh end of this year.
Manufacturers and contractors who want to get their share of the upturn need to stand up and be counted and raising your profile is one way of doing just that. Companies who have been downsizing over the last 6 or 7 years will not be able to handle the volume (or may have to sub-out the work). You need to be at the front of the queue.
As far as suppliers are concerned contractors will need to spread their risk for credit reasons and will not wish to put all their eggs in one basket. New architects wont have seen anything like this upsurge and will be looking for new faces. This is almost a unique year.
If you miss the 2014 bus, there wont be coming along in threes. It might be another 4-5 years before another opportunity comes along with this much scope again.

The Coventry University Engineering & Computing Faculty has recently been completed. The very contemporary project features Bespoke Anodised Aluminium Cladding by MERO-SCHMIDLIN in addition to Raised Access Flooring.
Coventry University 3 page feature in Education Design & Build Magazine (EDB) June 13 Edition
Front Elevation offer a fully integrated service to include Site & project Photography, Case Studies and of course writing and submitting PR & articles on behalf of our clients.
The June Edition of EDB Magazie includes a 3 Page Feature on Coventry University submitted by Front Elevation on behalf of our clients
MERO-SCHMIDLIN (UK) PLC - www.mero-schmidlin.com
As articles are included on an FOC basis, as against a paid-for 'advertorial' they are of course far more dificult to secure. however with 75 or so construction titles in either hard copy or online, there is a huge appetite for quality Case Studies supported by well researched writing and professional qualty images.
All Images by Paul Scott - Front Elevation
At Front Elevation we offer all of this and more and spend a lot of time building up contacts with editors and decision makers in these quality publications. For all you cynics out there who believe they only publish pieces by companies who advertise with them, I can assure you THAT IS NOT THE CASE. We do not believe in advertising for the sake of it, BUT if you have worked on or supplied your products on a project regardless of size or value we wil try our best to make it eye catching and submit it to the appropriate publishers.
If however we cant get it into one o the leading titles Front Elevation can get it on YOUR website and YOUR blog or Facebook page.
Quality Images of your products or your installation will help get you 'published'
Your website is your shop window!!
Your are faced with several choices as a company to promote your services or products. A website is a start (but only a start) if Front Elevation handle your website we can not only regularly update it BUT also provide the Photos, Text and Research to populate it. Not only that, but we will also 'interview' your clients, visit site and get those "Quote" references saying what a great job you did. These add much needed creedance to Case Studies. The main contractor saying how your guys on site contributed to a job well done or the architects enthusing on how your products offered a cost effective solution to the design.
Of course it does help you project Case Study gt noticed when the project is 'unusual' rather like this one at Coventry University but have a look at our website Case Study page we cover most projects.
You can pay a huge American conglomerate who turn over billions of dollars (and allegedly pay less corporation tax than you do) to get your website at the top of the page OR you can take on Front Elevation who will produce a Facebook Site, Company Blog and regularly update your own website which drives up ratings.
Raising your profile isnt easy, or indeed quick, but outsorcing to one company to DO IT ALL makes financial sense.
Give us a call and download our new brochure from our website
I will be very happy to pop in for a coffee and a chat.

Re-New Magazine is a winner for HBS
HBS the Romford based Refurbishment Specialists are deighted with their First In-House magazine produced by Front Elevation.
Andrew Pratt, Director, was quoted as saying " This is the first time we have been able to showcase this many projects in one publication. We send it out with all of our quotes and tenders. I never miss an opportunity to drop off a copy on my visits to potential clients"
The 12 Page Re-New Magazine was produced as part of Front Elevation's marketing package for HBS and not only did we design and publish the magazine but we are also providing a telephone follow up service as part of the package.
Front Elevation MD, Paul Scott said that the magazine idea had really taken off for their clients "Magazines get read, brochures get filed"
HBS have even had feedback asking when the next issue will be available.
The magazine has been sent out to all of HBS's client database and Front Elevation are working on a Lead Generation system so that potential HBS clients can receive a copy in future. It is also intended to bring out future issues in Flipbook format for easier reading.
Front Elevation to assist Positive View Foundation
Front Elevation are adding much valued support to the Photographic Charity
The Positive View Foundation www.positiveviewfoundation.org.uk
The charity set up by Andrew Page has The Duke of Cambridge as its patron and raises funds to allow disadvantaged younger people to get involved with photography both as a social pastime and as a profession.
Positive View Foundation Charity No: 1142532 Company No: 7633773
Following my meeting with Andrew Page we are working as 'Ambassadors' for the charity to help promote awareness of the charity and develop corporate sponsorship.
The charity has recently organised a superb photographic exhibition at Somerset House which is breaking attendance records there.
There will soon be a much larger exhibition at the same venue. Whilst their website can express their aims far better than I: In my own humble way I believe it encourages younger disadvantaged people to appreciate and interact with their surroundings. They dont just give them a camera, they organise training programmes and bursaries so that recipients are equipped in every sense to take full advantage. The organisation has already enabled several homeless people to get work in photography and rebuild their life.
Andrew has previously worked with homeless charities and Positive View are currently developing schemes to help ex-servicemen who cannot continue their chosen career path due to physical or mental trauma. The Foundation will help them to get involved in photography as a possible career.

Project Profile for October - Bon Marché,
This months project profile features Bon Marché, an iconic building in Brixton. Brixton. It has undergone an exterior refurbishment by one of our clients HBS Ltd. For more details on HBS see their website www.hbs-construct.com
HBS the Romford based new build and refurbishment specialists have recently completed the exterior refurbishment of Bon Marché, the iconic landmark in Brixton.
Whilst the property in Ferndale Road SW9 may not stand out now amongst the plethora of shops and railway bridge, this is an iconic building in UK construction. Not only was it the first purpose built department store, being completed in 1877, but is also accepted as the UK’s first Steel Framed building.
HBS were contracted to perform a test clean of the Stucco render before advising on the most suitable technique to use on the 135 year old exterior. Hammer Testing of hollow areas was carried out and all necessary repairs were made. The exterior metalwork and architectural features were sanded and grinded to remove years of grime and rust and lovingly restored.
The building has been bought back to life and again sits proudly in the centre of the Brixton community. The work was completed on time and on budget. The whole process was overseen by HBS Project Manager Bill Bridge who assembled the specialist team to tackle the contract.
HBS have also been accredited installers of the 3M Liquid Roofing System for 5 years. This specialist process was used on the Bon Marché building as not only is it quicker to apply than most traditional systems but also does not require any naked flames.
Andrew Pratt, Director, of HBS stated “ We are delighted to add this iconic building to our portfolio of refurbishment projects. Having recently completed Greater London House and a Crown Estates property in the West End our teams are very experienced in tackling these very sensitive heritage contracts”
The Cambridge University 'Sainsbury Laboratory' has been shortlisted for one of the UK's most prestigious architectural awards, The Stirling Prize.
The contemporary building was one of three projects in the RIBA 'mid-list' designed by Stanton Williams Architects. The Stirling Prize is awarded to the architects of the project built or designed in Britain 'which has made the greatest contribution to the evolution of architecture in the past year'.
The building is very radical in its design and was driven by functionality in its brief to provide a new international research facility in plant science.
The building has a concrete frame which has been embellished by the use of 1,000 square metres of 50mm thick ashlar cladding applied both internally and externally. The yellow Jaumont French Limestone was also used to construct over 168 4.5metre high columns or fins each weighing 180 kilos. The fins add a strong horizontal emphasis as when scrutinised from close quarters you are able to clearly distinguish the bands within the limestone.
Stanton Williams worked closely with the Vauxhall based stonework contractors, Szerelmey Ltd who in addition to installing the stonework, also designed and developed bespoke lifting gear to install it. Stone is very much a prominent feature of the building and the columns and stone inner staircase, made up of individual stone units each weighing 220 kilos, needed careful installation and required constant consultation between the main contractors, Kier Regional, the installers, Szerelmey and architects Stanton Williams. The inner stone staircase links the two above ground storeys of the building with the subterranean level which has reduced the overall height of the building. Yorkstone benches and paving feature in the inner and outer courtyards which compliment the external fabric.
The Laboratory is situated with the University of Cambridge Botanical Gardens and brings together some of the world's leading scientists within the 11,000 sq m complex. Alan Stanton, director at Stanton Williams stated: "The Laboratory is a major new international centre for pure research in plant science" The building was funded in part by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation which was set up by David Sainsbury (now Lord Sainsbury of Turville) and reflects his passion for plant science research.
The project has already won numerous accolades including a Civic Trust Award, overall winner in the British Concrete Society Awards and has been entered by Szerelmey in the 2012 Natural Stone Awards. The Stirling Prize will be presented on the 13th October and the current holder is Zaha Hadid's Evelyn Grace Academy.
